Have American Law Professors Ruined American Law? - Prof. Stephen Presser

There is no country in the world where law professors have had more of an influence on shaping the law than in the United States. In his latest book, Law Professors: Three Centuries of Shaping American Law Stephen Presser reviews three centuries of teaching in the American Legal system and how educators shaped not only our laws but also the politics and culture of our nation. During this webinar, Professor Presser will explore several core theories presented in his book. Among them, the failure of legal education to pass on the essential values that prevailed in our historical legal institutions, the earliest American law professors understanding on the preservation of the rule of law, and how today’s dominant legal theories have strayed from those of our early legal educators.

This is the second webinar of an ongoing series offered live exclusively to Wigmore Club members. Learn more about the Wigmore Club and how to become a member.

Thank you. Very enlightening. Restores, a bit, my faith that besides technical things, one can still learn something in law school. Refreshing if divergent views are actually in play!
